L.A. Guns 29/09 Copenhagen

Tuesday the 29th of september it was time to experience the legendary LA band, LA Guns. The band that was formed in 1983 have had numerous members throughout the years, including Axl Rose who fronted the band in 1984. This time around there are 2 versions of LA Guns. One includes original guitarist Tracii Guns and former Love/Hate singer Jizzy Pearl and the other includes original members Phil Lewis (vocals) and drummer Steve Riley.

The version that visited Copenhagen on this night was the one with Tracii Guns, so yours truly was very excited to see how Jizzy Pearl would handle the classic old LA Guns songs. And let it be said right away: He pulled off a 10 on my 10 scale. To hear how his voice transformed when he sang hits like "One more Reason", "Over the Edge" and Rip & Tear was a true joy. It actually sounded just like LA Guns unlike some of the newer songs in the set that had a bit Love/Hate vibe over them. Kind of make sense since Jizzy Pearls voice is very unique which makes it that more impressive how he mastered the old LA Guns songs.

After about an hour Jizzy really got to shine when the band played 2 Love/Hate hits: "Blackout in the red Room" and "Spinning Wheel". This went over really well as it was clear that most of the audience were into Love/Hate as well.

To watch the guitar player Tracii Guns is a pure joy. He is without a doubt one of the coolest guitar players in the world, and if you don't know what it means to be sleazy, then you need to watch and hear him play. He's even got his own son in the band on this tour, so the next generation of the Guns family is definitely ready to carry on the torch. Jeremy Guns delivered solid bass, but was a bit anonymous compared to the other 3 on stage.

As earlier mentioned the atmosphere in the crowd was over the top this night at The Rock. Unfortunately the place was only half full, and it makes absolutely no sense to me that a band like LA Guns can't draw more than maybe 300 people. Especially considering that they don't play in southern Sweden this time and that the tickets were sold at 130kr.. I'm beginning to understand why the really good concerts in Denmark are far in between these days...
